I’m back…. again?

January 4th, 2008

Ok, it’s only been what… a year?  Sorry about that.  I just thought I’d make sure the blog still works and I guess I’ll start actually putting some stuff in here again.

Elizabeth pretty much manages the family blog now.  So, that is where most of the activity is going.  We’ll probably combine ours…..

I’m Back

January 19th, 2007

Well…. this has been a long time since writing and I apologize!  Things are going great these days and Elizabeth and I are expecting a baby boy or girl around the end of February.  We’re really excited and so are the girls.  Elizabeth has resigned from her job effective Feb. 16th so she can stay at home with our child.  We both praise God that we are able to do this.

Thanks for reading and please accept my apologies for being away so long!

Sorry I’ve been away from my Blog so long!

June 6th, 2006

Well, it’s been a while since I posted and I feel a bit guilty.  So much has happenedin our lives.  But, everything is going terrific and God has definitely blessed Elizabeth and I in our new positions at our company.  To make a long story short, a lot of people were let go, but Elizabeth and I were lucky (a.k.a. blessed) to be moved to new postitions.

I do have a wonderful story to share, however.  My brother, Jimmy, was meeting with a business client.  After the meeting was over, the client looked at my brother and asked him “Are you a believer”?  My brother responded with something along the lines of “Not as much as I want to be or should be”.  This person then invited my brother to their church in Florida.  This kind of exchange doesn’t happen by accident.  I’m encouraging my brother to go and check out this church.  I’ve looked at their website and it looks wonderful with a very strong biblical teaching.

We never really know how much time we have in this life… so don’t procrastinate.  Accept Christ as your Lord and Savior and commit your life to him.  You can do this with any words that you feel are appropriate.  Once you do this and really mean it from your heart, your life will be changed forever and you can look forward to God’s blessings (and trials) in this life and also an eternal life with Him.

God Bless

Our Wedding

April 21st, 2006

I just thought I’d post a couple of choice pictures to this blog from my Flickr site.  Looks like it worked!  And what a great pic…..  You can click the link for the other picture in a Flickr slideshow.

I’m Still Here!

January 11th, 2006

Sorry I’ve been so long in posting. The latest news is my trip to West Virginia for some skiing with our Church’s Youth Group. It was a wonderful trip and it even included a concert by Rebecca St. James. I shared a room with 3 teenage boys and we had a great time. I got to ski a fair amount in the afternoon, but in the morning I spent most of my time helping others so they didn’t kill themselves! I’ll have to post some pictures on the church website soon of the trip.

On another note… keep your eye on the Middle East. Most importantly, Iran and Israel. A lot of people, even Christians, don’t spend much time looking at end times prophecy, but I can tell you for a fact that we do get closer to Christ’s second coming each and every day. The Bible does predict a war between Iran with Russia and Israel. Well, it looks more and more plausible every day as Iran continues to move towards nuclear capabilities.

Basically, don’t hesitate to share your relationship with Christ with others. And…. if you have not yet accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior… now is a good time. You never know…..

Check out Hal Lindsey’s site sometime for some interesting information on what is going on these days in relation to end times prophecy.

In Christ,
Robert

New Church Responsibility

October 31st, 2005

I’m happy to report that my wife, Elizabeth, and I have been given the responsibility of maintaining our church’s website. We’ve been putting a lot of work into the new design of the church site and we’ll be putting it up live by this Sunday if everything goes ok. The site is for our church, Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church. The new version will be much easier to navigate with drop-down menus across the top and we’ll be keeping it as current as possible.

The exciting thing about this is just the fact that we were asked to do it and it definitely feels like God’s plan. It’s funny how things work out. We’d always felt the website needed work and then the next thing you know I was asked to be on the Communications Committee at our church. Well, the website is obviously and important communications tool for a church, so that came up and we started working on a re-design. I wasn’t sure we’d own it in the end, but it definitely seems like a perfect fit.

I’ll be sure to post here again once the new site is up!

My Testimony at Larry’s Church

September 27th, 2005

Ok, a couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine, Larry O’Neal, asked me to come to his church (United Methodist Church in Fuquay-Varina, NC) and share my testimony with his men’s group there. I decided to go ahead and record it so I could share it with others, including my brother, Jimmy (who’s now a Dad!)

Anyways, I do love sharing my Testimony and seeing how the Holy Spirit can work through me. I had a basic idea of what and how I wanted to share it, but I never try to let something like this get too scripted. It was an awesome experience and I truly feel that sharing your testimony of how you came to know Christ is one of the most powerful ways to bring others to know Christ. No one can argue with your own personal testimony, since it’s your own.

I will be posting this on our website shortly, but I wanted to get this out now. Just click the link below and you can listen. It’s about 20 minutes long……. I hope you enjoy it. I know I did!

I’ll be adding this link to the family website shortly, but here’s a link to the actual audio…

Robert Redd’s Testimony

Feel free to pass this on to anyone you think may be interested!

My Brother is now a Father!

September 26th, 2005

Jordyn Chastain Redd was born at 6 lbs. and 3 oz. today! Everyone is doing fine.

I couldn’t be happier for my brother and his wife. May God bless the new addition to the family.

New House — Thanks be to God

August 8th, 2005

Well, after praying about it for about 1 year, God has provided us with a perfect home. Elizabeth and I knew we’d be looking for a home this summer and started praying about it last year. When it came time to start looking for a home, we both started thinking we’d have to compromise in order to keep the price down. It was important that we keep the price down since although we could afford it easily enough today, the plan is for her to be at home when it comes time for some little ones!

We looked and looked and it seemed like we wouldn’t be able to find that ‘perfect’ home. All I can say is that God knew what we needed more than we did, which is always the case. In the end, the home we’ve moved into now is absolutely perfect. It was also within our budget and in a great location. Prayer really does work.

One note on prayer… Elizabeth and I have often discussed prayer and what does it really do. Do we influence God with our prayers? Do we change his mind? If he already has a perfect plan, then how can we possibly change it? The questions can go on and on… However, one truth remains, the Bible instructs us to pray and to pray often. Don’t just pray for help when you need it, but use prayer as a two-way communication with God. It’s fine to ask for things, if they are proper requests, and to give lots of thanks and praise… but don’t forget to listen! Many people say they never hear God speak to them, but I’d raise the next question - Are you listening?

It’s Been a While

June 7th, 2005

Well, I’ve been a while in updating my blog and I apologize. The latest news on the homefront is that my wife and I are indeed buying a home! We’re excited about it and now are just hoping the home inspections go smoothly.

Bible Study Fellowship is done for this year and it will start up again in August. We’ll be doing Genesis this year. That should be very thought provoking and enlightening. I’m curious to see how others view the story of Genesis. I’ll be sure to share what comes out of those discussions. However, I now have free time on Monday nights. I’m planning on going to the bookstore this week to pick up a study guide for Elizabeth and I to go through so that I stay focused on the Bible and what it teaches. We know that men penned the Bible, however, God inspired it and directed it. Basically, it’s a combination of the two. The men themselves weren’t like word processors that God just pressed the keys on, but a tool that was used to write the perfect collection of books that tell a story that all too often is with ourselves as the main focus. Think about that. Also, since it was authored by God and not the Church… it is no one’s right to “update” the Bible. Translating and making it easier to read is one thing, but many try to look at things taught in the Bible and say that this or that doesn’t apply to today. The Bible is the one document we have that gives us a Plum line to judge everything against. The Holy Spirit assists us in that, as well. At least that’s my understanding of all this!

My final thought for the day is try not to worry too much about stuff. It doesn’t do anything productive.
